Junior Cole Aberle (#17) intercepts a pass on Friday night to gain possession for the Bulldogs.

The Staunton/Bunker Hill football Bulldogs traveled to Pana on Friday, Sept. 16, where they lost to the Panthers 3 - 28.

Cole Aberle has been our kicker, doing kick-offs and also getting the PAT through the uprights. Friday night, he proved that he could also get a field goal and earned Staunton their 3 points.

The Bulldogs kicked off to start the game. The Panthers moved the ball downfield with 4 first downs and had a first and goal at the 4 when Pana rushed for their first TD. Their PAT was good giving them the 7-0 lead

Pana then kicked off to the Bulldogs. Staunton had the ball at midfield, made a first down to the Pana 28 when, with under a minute left in the 1st quarter, the Bulldogs went for the field goal with Aberle adding 3 points for Staunton.

Pana took the Staunton kick-off at their own 28 and returned the ball for their 2nd rushing TD, made the PAT and took a 14-3 lead at the end of the first quarter.

In the 2nd quarter, the teams had traded punts when Pana scored on a 2 yard run. The PAT was good giving the Panthers a 21-3 lead. Later, still in the 2nd quarter, Pana recovered a Bulldog fumble and returned it 90 yards for another Pana TD. The PAT was good giving Pana their 28-3 lead and that would be the end of scoring for the game.

The second half was strictly defense. A Bulldog high point was the pass interception by Cole Aberle and a Bulldog recovery of a Pana fumble.
