Reese Heyen from Gillespie displays her state fair projects.

On Sunday, Aug.14, over 60 4-H members from Macoupin County exhibited their 4-H projects at the Orr Building at the Illinois State Fair. Some of the project categories that were exhibited during the 4-H State Fair General Projects show were foods and nutrition, woodworking, interior design, visual arts, health, sewing, aerospace, horticulture, natural resources, electricity, animal science, citizenship, child development, welding, and photography.

Youth were selected as State Fair Delegates based on their performance at the county 4-H shows. Macoupin County 4-H members took their projects to the State Fair where they again participated in conference judging similar to their experience at the county fair. Grand Champion and Reserve Champions were awarded in each class to the exhibitor with the highest and second-highest score. Inspire awards were awarded by the judge to those members who stood out for being creative, engaging, and inspiring.
