Senior citizens held meeting

The meeting on Aug.4 was called to order by President Gerry Cook. There were 26 members in attendance who said the Lord’s Prayer and the Pledge of Allegience. There were no visitors or new members, but Betty Zarkes attended after a long absence. The minutes and treasurer’s report were read and approved.
President Gerry Cook announced there will be a financial audit next month.
There were no card or prayer requests. Toni Janus, treasurer announced she will miss a few meetings due to cataract surgery. Everyone wishes her well. 1t was discussed and decided John Paine, a financial adviser, to attend a future meeting to discuss VA benefits that some members may not be aware of.
Gerry Cook brought home-made cookies to weIcome new secretary Vicki Pryor. Margaret Heinemeyer and Vicki Pryor received the attendance prizes and Elsie Guarienti and Vicki Pryor were the winners of the Pot of Silver prizes. The meeting was adjourned and everyone enjoyed playing bingo called by The Glenwood Supportive Living Facility’s Regional Administrator LesIie Vannoy.
The next meeting will be on Wednesday, Aug. 17, at St. Paul United Church of Christ located at 225 S. Laurel St. in Staunton. It will start at l p.m. All seniors in the area are welcome to join us.
