Mark Christian Holubasch, 52, of Livingston, Ill., formerly of Belleville, died Monday, July 25, 2022, at Community Hospital of Staunton. He was born Dec. 22, 1969, to George Joseph and Roberta Leona (Hoedebecke) Holubasch in St. Louis, Mo. Mark married his partner of 20 years, Jamie Ellis, on Sept. 1, 2018, at the St. Clair County Courthouse in Belleville, and she survives.

Mark grew up in Collinsville then moved to Belleville where he spent most of his life before buying a home with Jamie in Livingston. Mark loved to spend time with his family. He enjoyed antiquing with his wife and driving to the different stores on Sundays to see what treasures they could find. Mark also loved his pets, Dotsy, Tootsie, and Jack, and considered them part of the family. Mark was an outdoorsman, he liked to kayak, fish, play golf, and especially loved hiking in the Smoky Mountains. Mark was also a talented woodworker, he loved to refurbish the antiques he'd find with his wife as well as build new projects and repair the older ones. He was a MOPAR car enthusiast and loved his Challenger and his Jeep. He was a member of the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers & Allied Workers No. 2 for over 30 years.


Mark is survived by his wife, Jamie Holubasch of Livingston; daughter, Mariah Fairfield; siblings, George "Ed" Holubasch, Eugene "Chip" Holubasch, Ronald "Ronny" (Sandie) Holubasch, Terry (Roger) Cottrell, Mary Holubasch; several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Laura (Carl) Santos; brothers-in-law, Stuart (Reonna) Haag, Steve Haag, Scott Haag; and many lifelong friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gregory Holubasch; sister, Margaret "Peggy" Cregger; and father-in-law, Richard LaVassaur.

A funeral Mass was held Saturday, July 30, at Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Maryville, with Rev. Robert Johnson officiating. Inurnment will be held privately by the family at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Stray Rescue of St. Louis, Mo. Kassly-Meridith Funeral Home in Collinsville was in charge of arrangements.
