Madison technicians bring home first place in the SCTE Cable-Tec Games

Madison Communications sent their technicians to participate in their first SCTE Gateway Chapter Cable-Tec games since 2019. The SCTE (Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers) is an international organization that is split up between 68 chapters.

The team that won first place overall and represented Madison in St. Peters, Mo., was Daron Verbais, Brent Phillips, Myron High, and Bryan Huffstutler. The Chapter Cable-Tec games are comprised of seven events, all of which are judged on accuracy and time and consist of tasks that the technicians may or may not complete in any given day. The events are as follows: Cable Jeopardy, Mainline Cable Splicing, Drop Splicing, MTDR, OTDR, Meter Reading, and Fiber Splicing.

Madison technicians Randy Miller, Erick Goode, Tanner Pieri, and Greg Crabill took part in the Five Rivers Chapter Cable-Tec Games.

Along with the group awards, each member on the team received individual awards in various categories. Daron Verbais earned 6th place overall. Myron High earned 4th place overall, bronze in Mainline Cable Splicing, and bronze in Fiber Splicing. Brent Phillips earned 3rd place overall, gold in Meter Reading, gold in MTDR, silver in OTDR, and bronze in Jeopardy. Bryan Huffstutler earned 1st place overall, gold in Jeopardy, gold in OTDR, silver in Mainline Cable Splicing, silver in Fiber Splicing, and silver in MTDR. Madison extends congratulations to all of them for their hard work and achievements.

The following week, Madison sent a different team to Bloomington to compete at the Five Rivers Chapter Cable-Tec Games. This team consisted of Tanner Pieri, Greg Crabill, Randy Miller, and Erick Goode. This was the first time that these individuals experienced the games. It was a great initial exposure that resulted in an abundance of gained knowledge all while having fun!.

Madison appreciates the extra time it took to prepare for these competitions.
