Carlinville man pleads guilty to first degree murder in 2021 stabbing case

 


Macoupin County State's Attorney Jordan J. Garrison announced last Tuesday that Dalton M.K. Obermark pled guilty to first degree murder in the Feb. 1, 2021, stabbing of John W. Rennie of Virden. Judge Joshua A. Meyer accepted his guilty plea and set the matter for a sentencing hearing on Sept. 28, 2022.

On Feb. 1, 2021, the Virden Police Department responded to the 700 block of N. Dye in Virden for a welfare check on John Rennie. Upon arriving at the residence Virden officers Harold Gist and Phyllip Kennedy found the garage door open and made entry into the residence. Rennie was found decea...
