By Kelly Costa During Monday night’s city council meeting, the city council received a request from the Staunton FFA to reserve Firemen’s Park on Tuesday, Aug. 2, for the annual Back- to-School Family Picnic. The

council approved the request. City Clerk Dennis Stiegemeier announced that Governor J.B. Pritzker has signed a new Gubernatorial Disaster Proclamation extending the statewide declaration through July 24, 2022, which allows public meetings to be held remotely.

In Streets and Sewer, the

council approved the Canadian Crossing drainage project with a cost not to exceed $5,000.

In Personnel, the council agreed to allow Bart Yakos, street foreman, to carry over any unused vacation time from 2021-2022 to 2022-2023. Yakos's anniversary date is July 25th.

In Judiciary, the first reading was given for Ordinance #2167 a Pre-Annexation Agreement with Timothy and Wendi Rose Powell regarding their property located at 9335 Renken Road but not physically annexing the property to the city’s corporate boundaries at this time.

The collector's report included real estate tax interest from the Macoupin County treasurer in the amount of $1,329.83 and real estate tax interest-library in the amount of $174.22.

Liquor license renewal was issued to Rooster's Pub; Amusement licenses to VFW Post #1241, Berry's Bar, Mr. T's, Skeeter's Pub; Video Gaming licenses to VFW Post #1241, Cash Out Gaming, Berry's Bar, Mr. T's, Skeeter's Pub.

Those present for the meeting were Mayor Craig Neuhaus, City Clerk Dennis Stiegemeier, Treasurer Cindy Pirok, Public Works Director Mike Kuethe, Police Chief Jeff Doerr, aldermen Rick Johnson, Jeff Scanzoni, Ryan Machota, John Moore, David Manning, and David Dias. City Attorney Phil Lading and alderman Randy Hanks attended electronically. alderman Chad Plenske was absent.The next city council meeting will be on Monday, July 25, at 7 p.m.
