Raises given at special school board meeting

At the special Staunton Board of Education meeting held on June 29, bills were approved and the board approved Title Grant waivers to carry over funding from fiscal year 2022 and apply for a continuation of title benefits at the junior high school that isn’t currently meeting the criteria. To be eligible for utilizing Title Grant funds in each school building, the free and reduced lunch rate must be at 40 percent or higher. The junior high is slightly under that percentage which triggers the waiver to be submitted to use those grant funds for the next school year.

Lori Moore was employed as a bus driver/aide. The district also gave a 3.5 percent raise to the district’s directors, bus drivers, and building level administrative assistants for fiscal year 2023. In an effort to ensure compliance with upcoming requirements in the wage laws governing Illinois and the wage compression issues surrounding it, instructional paraprofessionals and supervisory aides received between a 3.5 to 6 percent raise depending on the position and/or future wage requirements.
