Homecoming this weekend
June 22, 2022
After much anticipation and hours of planning, the annual Firemen’s Homecoming Celebration will return to Staunton this weekend.
The three-day weekend starts Friday, June 24, with rides by Egyptian Exposition opening at 6 p.m. They will be in continuous operation until 10:30 p.m. Friday.
Beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, Captain Geech & The Shrimp Shack Shooters will provide the music, playing until midnight.
Rides run from 6 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday evening. BoomSlang will provide the musical entertainment from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Sunday afternoon, pick your favorite spot on Main Street to see the big parade of decorated floats and bands beginning at 4 p.m.
Sunday evening at the park, the rides open at 5 p.m. and run until 9 p.m. and D.J., Buffy’s Beats, provides the music from 6 to 9 p.m.
There promises to be a variety of food options available at the park offered by local community organizations all three nights. Also, there will be beer, bingo, concessions, rides and music.
You won’t want to go home too early Sunday, because you really don’t want to miss the fireworks display being sponsored by the city of Staunton (weather permitting). The fireworks are set to begin at dark.
The $25 arm bands will be available each day allowing unlimited rides for that day only.
The firemen have worked hard organizing and bringing this celebration back to Staunton. And, of course, they will also be working all weekend at the park.
The community is fortunate to have the SVFD. We can show our appreciation for this fine organization by attending and supporting their efforts. They invite you to come to their party and enjoy the homecoming, parade, fireworks – just enjoy it all.
