SHS held graduation ceremonies on May 30 with 83 graduates. B.J. Brown, Steve Moore and Tiffany Spudich were valedictorians.

Deborah Balster and Raymond Rantanen were married April 12 in Bethalto.

Marion and Dorothy (Philippe) Tsupros of Livingston celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on May 25.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hendrix of Paducah, Ky., celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on April 16.

Charles and Arlene (Ruehrup) Luer of Champaign, he formerly of Worden and Staunton, and she formerly of Staunton, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on June 15.

Ursula E. Ruyle (83) of Staunton died May 26 at the Lynncrest Nursing Home in Auburn.

Mary Stefani (78) of Country Club Hills, formerly of Staunton, died June 1 at Olympia Fields Hospital in Olympia Fields, Ill.

Issue of June 6, 2007

An armed robbery took place at Citizens National Bank on Staunton’s Main Street on Thursday. The gunman reportedly made off with about $1,000.

Duda Garden Park was dedicated in a ceremony held on Saturday. The late Leroy Duda donated the land for the park that will serve as a trailhead for the new bike trail.

Following the trial held in the death of Mitchell Kuhlman, 24, of Gillespie, a jury found Paul D. Lovins, 25, of Benld guilty of mob action and aggravated battery.

The eighth grade class of 112 students at Staunton Junior High was promoted to high school on May 29.

A son was born to Timothy and Jennifer Schoen of Staunton May 3.

A son was born to Samantha Cuevas and Andrew Reno of Benld on May 28.

Arthur and Agnus (Imhoff) Pingolt of Staunton will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on June 7.
