Thursday, May 17, 1990 -- Second Grade Olympics balloon found -- Each year, the second grade classes at Staunton Public School hold a balloon launch as part of the opening ceremonies to their Second Grade Olympics. Last year that launch was conducted on May 12 with each of the balloons having the following note attached.

"This card was attached to a helium balloon I launched on May 12, 1989 in Staunton, Illinois. Everyone in my second grade class sent up a balloon. Please, send me a note and let me know my balloon was found! I am waiting to hear from you. Thank you!"
