Sharon Kay Peterson, 80, of Gillespie, Ill., died at Heritage Health of Gillespie on Wednesday, May 18, 2022. She was born Aug. 24, 1941, in Belleville, to Arnold and Lillian (Vogt) McDaniel. She married Loraine "Pete" Peterson on Sept. 8, 1962, in Columbia. He survives.

Sharon was a receptionist for Liese Lumber Co. in Belleville.

She is survived by her husband, Pete Peterson of Gillespie; children, Monica (Bradley) Lemke of Staunton, Darrin "Pete" (Jennifer) Peterson of Gillespie, Greta (Deron) Stein of St. Jacob, Shanna (Kevin) Sullivan of Belleville; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Elaine Cook; and brother-in-law, Robert Werner. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Eli Peterson; sister, Charlotte Werner; and brother-in-law, Paul Cook.

Private family services will be held.
