Ronald Gene Wahl, 77, of Gillespie, Ill., died at St. John's Hospital in Springfield on Monday, April 25, 2022. He was born Aug. 18, 1944, in Rockbridge, to Percy and Velma (Ayers) Wahl. He married Linda Kay Neff, and she survives.

He was retired after having been a meat cutter for a grocery store. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during Vietnam. Ronald enjoyed woodworking and gardening. He also enjoyed spending time with family and being outdoors.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Wahl of Gillespie; children, Christie Wasylenko of Gillespie, Tracy (Dustin) Favre of Staunton, Erin (Steth) Wahl of Stonington, Brianne (Matt) Nolan of Virden; grandchildren, Samantha Wasylenko, Taylor (Dylan) Fuda, Tori Gilleland, Colton Wahl, Savannah Linn, Lilly Wahl, Asha Wahl, Kyle Favre, Olivia Favre, Kinsley Nolan; two great-grandchildren; siblings, Earl Ray (Carol) Wahl of West Frankfort, Phyllis (Larry) Brogdon of Murrayville, Stanley (Cathy Jo) Wahl of Jacksonville, Randall (Rhonda) Wahl of Murrayville; and several nieces and nephews. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Wahl; sister, Elizabeth Wahl; and son-in-law, Ken Wasylenko.

Private family services will be held with interment at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
