Softball girls win at Vandalia

The Staunton High School Lady Softball Bulldogs were in Vandalia on April 19 and defeated the Lady Vandals 10-4.
After 3 innings, Staunton held a 6-3 lead. The Lady Dogs added 3 runs in the 5th, bringing their lead up to 9-3. Vandalia was able to add one run in the 6th and Staunton came back with a run in the 7th to get the 10-4 win.
Staunton runs were scored by Ele Feldmann 3, Lilly Bandy 2, Korryn Keehner 2; Kylie Lucykow, Evin Frank, and Taylor Nolan,1 each.
Feldmann and Nolan led in hitting with 3 hits each. Bandy and Whitney Weller each had 2 hits; Lucykow, Savannah Billings and Korryn Keehner each had 1 hit. The Staunton hits included 4 doubles; 2 by Bandy and 1 each by Feldmann and Keehner. RBIs were credited to Frank 2, Bandy 2, Weller 1, and Nolan 1.
Feldmann and Billings pitched for Staunton. Feldmannn pitched 5 innings, struck out 2, walked none, gave up 7 hits and 3 earned runs. Billings pitched 2 innings, struck out 1, walked 2, gave up 1 hit and 1 unearned run.
The girls hosted Greenville on Friday, April 22nd and defeated the Lady Comets 9-1. Staunton runs were scored by Frank, Weller and Billings (2 ea.), Lucykow, Lilly Troeckler, and Nolan (1ea.)
Savannah Billings led the hitting with 4 hits and 3 RBIs. Other hits/RBIs were by: Nolan 3/2, Weller 2/1, Mckenzie Wofford 1/1, Feldmann 2/0, Lucykow, Frank and Koral Keehner 1/0.
Taylor Nolan pitched all 7 innings. She struck out 6, walked 4, gave up 2 hits and 1 run.
Following the Comet game, the Lady Bulldog's season record was 9-2.
This week, the girls are scheduled to play 4/25 at North Mac, 4/26 at Litchfield, 4/27 home vs North Green and 4/29 home vs SW; scheduled next week - 5/2 at Hillsboro, 5/3 at Carlinville, 5/4 home vs. Gillespie, 5/5 home vs Civic Memorial.
