Senior citizens held meeting

April 14, 2022

On April 7, President Gerry Cook opened the meeting, and the Lord’s Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance were said. We had 28 members in attendance and Ed Hainaut was welcomed as a visitor.

Under old business, the Illinois Hospice was discussed and all were in agreement for a representative to come to the next meeting. Under new business all were in agreement to have a catered meal on the second meeting of May in honor of Mother’s/Father’s Day. The date of that meeting is May 19. Judy offered to contact caterers. It was also discussed about the month of August now being when the yearly dues are due and the election of officers will take place because of being closed for the month of March for the COVID-19 pandemic. August was the first time that we were able to start having our meetings again. There were no card requests.

Attendance prizes went to Dennis Williams and JoAnn Brakhane. Pot of Silver winners were Elsie Guarienti and Ed Hainaut. Prizes donated by The Glenwood went to Shirley Copeland and Mary Lyons. Donated prizes were won by Kay Lindsey, Edel Kinnikin, Gerry Cook, Toni Janus, Dennis and Bev Williams, Ed Hainaut and Margaret Heinemeier. The meeting was adjourned and all had a good time playing bingo and visiting with friends. The next meeting will be held on April 21 starting at 1 p.m., at the St. Paul United Church of Christ located at 225 S. Laurel Street in Staunton. All seniors in the area, 55 years old and older, are welcome to join in the fun.

Secretary, Judy Hampton
