Michael R. "Slick" Rekart, Jr., 71, of Benld, Ill., died at his residence on Sunday, March 20, 2022. He was born April 20, 1950, in Litchfield to Michael Sr. and Emily (Soltis) Rekart.

He worked for Cerner. Michael enjoyed working on computers and riding his motorcycles. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was captain of the Sawyerville Spartans Turkey Bowl team since 1966.

He is survived by his sons, Michael (Christine) Rekart III, Jason Rekart; grandchildren, Nicholas Rekart, Noah Rekart, Thomas Rekart, Lucas Rekart, Michael Rekart, Christopher Rekart, Braydon Rekart, Trinity Rekart, Triston Rekart; and sisters, Judy Law, Cindy Rekart and companion, Kam Bomkamp. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Linda Basso and Debra Vath.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 26, at 12 noon at Kravanya Funeral Home in Benld. Burial was at Benld Cemetery.
