Robert Dale Young, 80, of Walshville, Ill., died at his residence on Wednesday, March 16, 2022. He was born Nov. 27, 1941, in Litchfield to Dale Young and Lydia (Gavene) Young Osborn. He married Peaches Stankoven. Later, he married Elizabeth Brozich, and she survives.

In 1965, he went to Walshville and farmed with Luther Kelly and eventually took over the farm. Robert was a retired operating engineer from Local 520. Robert was a member of the Operating Engineer Local 520 and Laborers Local 338. In 4-H, he raised Duroc hogs and won Grand Champion at the State Fair. He enjoyed drag racing and racing stock cars in his youth.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Young of Walshville; children, Robert (Justine) Young of Columbia, Alan (Kelley) Young of Collinsville, David Young of Walshville, Diane Young of Walshville; grandchildren, Kassi (Seth) Meashey, Marcus (Christine) Young and Ashley Young. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Bill Osborn.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 21, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie. Burial was at Mayfield Memorial Park Cemetery in Carlinville.
