It was announced that Heartland Tea Room located on South Edwardsville Street will convert to a Chinese restaurant run by Curtis and Shiao Griffith of Lebanon.

A daughter was born to Terry and Cindi Keeton on Feb. 24 at Christian Hospital Northwest in St. Louis.

Dennison Norman “Denny” Brown (56) of Mt. Olive died March 8 at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

Ernesta “Netta” Goldasich (73) of Wilsonville died March 7 at Community Memorial Hospital in Staunton.

Minnie B. Melm (84) of Sorento died March 7 at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.

Jim Sloan was sworn in as Ward 2 alderman.

The eighth grade Lady Terriers volleyball team won their regional tournament.

The seventh grade Lady Terriers volleyball team lost to Auburn in sectional play and ended their season with a 19-4 record.


A son was born to Jason and Marissa Banovz of Bethalto on Feb. 13.

Betty and Paul Cabaness celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on March 16.
