Staunton Lady Bulldogs win over Gillespie

In the past week, the Staunton High School Lady Basketball Bulldogs defeated Litchfield, 62-13 on Feb. 7; lost to Vandalia 38-51 on Feb. 9; and defeated Gillespie 52-25 on Feb. 10. That brings their season record to 19-7.

The Staunton girls are scheduled to play in the Roxana Regional which is part of the Waverly Sectional. Regional quarterfinals were played Saturday, Feb. 12.

Staunton received a first round bye and played the winner of Saturday's Pittsfield - EA/WR game at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 14, in the Roxana Regional semifinals.

Also on Monday, Feb. 14, Alton (Marquette) played the winner of Saturday's Southwestern vs. Roxana game.

A win on Monday advances the teams to Roxana Regional finals at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17.

The Roxana Regional winner will advance to play the Camp Point (Central) Regional winner on Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 6 p.m. to qualify for the Waverly Sectional championship game to be played at 7 p.m on Thursday, Feb. 24.

The Waverly Sectional winner advances to the Beardstown Super-Sectional.

Final Four play at Redbird Arena on March 3 and 5. Vandalia Supersectional winner vs. Beardstown Super Sectional winner play at 2:30 p.m. March 3.

Elgin Supersectional Champ vs. Morton College Supersectional winner at 4:15 on March 3.

Losers play March 3 at 8:45 p.m. for 3rd place.

Winners go to the State Championship game set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 5.
