Local farmers contribute to Illinois' rating as No. 1 in soybean production.

USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service final crop production estimates for 2021 confirm a bin-buster harvest.

Nationwide, soybean production totaled a record 4.44 billion bushels (up 5 percent from 2020) with an average yield of 51.4 bushels per acre (up 0.4 of a bushel). Corn production was estimated at 15.11 billion bushels (up 7 percent from 2020 and the second-largest on record) with a record yield of 177 bushels per acre.
