More area Back to Business grants awarded

February 2, 2022

Dozens of businesses in and around the 48th Senate District were recently awarded approximately $3.3 million in funding from the Back to Business Program to help them recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

“These last two years have been a burden on all of us, especially those who own and operate small businesses that drive our local economies,” said State Senator Doris Turner (D-Springfield). “These grants are giving businesses across our community a lifeline to get back on their feet.”

The B2B program grants are awarded by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity using funds allocated to them by the American Rescue Plan through last year’s state budget. So far DCEO has provided $111 million in B2B grants to nearly 3,000 small businesses throughout the state with an emphasis on disproportionately impacted areas.

“The B2B program’s focus on hard hit sectors like hospitality and the arts really showcases a nation-leading example of small business recovery,” Turner said.

No grants went to Macoupin County businesses during this round, but several grants went to businesses in Litchfield and Edwardsville. Litchfield recipients are Nancy's Pizza $15,000; The Briar Rose $10,000; Pizza Man & Ice Cream Man $40,000; Financial Services of America, Inc. $10,000; Holiday Inn Express and Suites $120,000; Huddle House $10,000; JMJ Foods, Inc. $45,000; Baymont by Wyndham $70,000; Hampton Inn $80,000; Litchfield Museum & Route 66 Welcome Center $20,000; Creative Flair $20,000; Quality Inn and Suites $65,000. Edwardsville recipients are Comfort Inn $15,000; Edwardsville Arts Center $30,000; Towneplace Suites $120,000.

Grants will continue to be awarded on a rolling basis. Visit the DCEO website for more information on the B2B program.
