Senior Homestead renewal

January 19, 2022

The 2022 Senior Homestead Exemption (yellow cards) will soon be mailed to senior citizens in Olive Township (Madison County). This exemption deducts $5,000 from your assessment on owner occupied property, but it must be applied for every year. Olive Township Tax Assessor, Margie Lamore, will be available to help those seniors (age 65 or older) who do not receive a card or those who have questions about this exemption.

Those seniors who own the home in which they reside and who have a total household yearly income of less than $65,000, are also eligible for the Senior Homestead Freeze. This exemption must also be applied for every year.

There are also homestead exemptions for disabled persons, disabled veterans, and returning veterans. These forms can be mailed to you or you can print them yourself from the Madison County website. Click on Chief County Assessment Office and then exemptions. Call Margie Lamore at 618-637-2716 if you have questions.
