Samantha Alice Muir-Hogsed, 49, of Staunton, Ill., died at Community Hospital of Staunton on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022. She was born Sept. 29, 1972, in Granite City, to Roy G. Muir and Sharon K. (Denninger) Muir. She married Donnie Ray Hogsed on Sept. 28, 1987, in Murphy, N.C. He preceded her in death on July 31, 2008.

She was a homemaker. Samantha enjoyed working on the family tree to find out more of the family history.

She is survived by her mother, Sharon Muir (companion, Levi Forrestor) of Litchfield; sons, Marty (Kylie) Hogsed of Benld, Travis (Tabitha) Hogsed of Andrews, N.C .; grandchildren, Max Hogsed, Briar Hogsed, Kensley Musgrove, Maximus Hogsed; siblings, Ruth Ann Peterson (companion, Eric Harvill) of Gillespie, Adam (Mandy) Muir of Gillespie, J. R. Ewing Muir of Gillespie; and several nieces and nephews. Samantha was preceded in death by her father, husband, and sisters, Ina Muir and Billie Muir.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 8, at Kravanya Funeral Home in Gillespie.
