Sharon Scholl began her life and grew up in West Virginia. She obtained her teaching degree from West Virginia University.

In 1950 Sharon met the love of her life, Joe Bahn of Staunton, Illinois. At that time, she was working for KMOX radio in St. Louis. A short while later, they were married and Joe took Sharon to live with him in Staunton. Joe and his brother Gene owned and managed Bahn’s Super Valu.
