Holiday Walk and Snack with Santa are this weekend

December 2, 2021

The planning that started months ago along with all the follow-up work to make it happen comes together this Friday, Dec. 3.

The tree lighting events in Staunton are officially open from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday. Businesses are being asked to stay open Friday evening until after the tree lighting and perhaps offer sale items and/or a treat for shoppers. Restaurants were also invited to feature a Holiday Walk special Friday evening.

A very special holiday event scheduled for visitors on both Friday evening and Saturday will be the live nativity on Main Street sponsored by the Staunton Clergy Association. A big thank you goes out to the church members who are helping bring the Christmas message to Staunton.

Just before the scheduled tree lighting on Friday night, the identity of Staunton’s 2021 Citizen of the Year will be announced by Santa. Following that announcement, at approximately 7:30 p.m., visitors can join the count-down to the lighting of the City of Staunton’s Christmas tree.

Snack with Santa and Staunton's Holiday Walk is this Saturday, Dec. 4, along with the Main Street Craft Fair.

Santa will be on hand to hear all about your Christmas wishes from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Everyone is invited to join Santa at the Snack with Santa event at the Cisler & Associates building on the corner of Main and Wood streets in Staunton.

Children of all ages are invited to have a cookie, visit Santa, and have a photo taken with Santa as they give him their special Christmas Wish List. You are also welcome to bring your own camera.

It is rumored that Santa might have some special characters visit him Saturday. You might want to see just who they are.

Admission to Snack with Santa is free. The event is being sponsored by the Staunton Chamber of Commerce and the City of Staunton. Visitors are requested to donate a canned goods item for the food pantry; and don’t forget to have your passport stamped before you leave.

The Staunton Holiday Walk will feature specials at Staunton's businesses and the Craft Fair will line Main Street. Everyone knows that a craft fair is a great place to find that unique one-of-a-kind gift. So be sure to take a stroll to see what is offered there. If it has been a long day and you don’t want to walk anymore, take a carriage ride down Main Street. It’s all part of the holiday atmosphere, so enjoy it all while it is here.

There are many other activities taking place this weekend. Check out what Staunton has to offer this Christmas season.
