Nov. 8-11 - The Staunton Terriers returned to action last week with three tough games over four days.

On Monday, SJHS welcomed Bunker Hill for a conference matchup. Fortunately, both squads came out with victories. The 8th grade played dominant defense and had balanced scoring on its way to a 38-10 win. Aaron Bodner (9 points), Carter Legendre (8 points), Ashton Rizzi (4 points), Bryce Coalson (4 points), Matthew Overby (4 points), Cole Rather (4 points), Logan Tuetken (2 points), Brody Hill (2 points), and Reese Bohlen (1 point) all entered the scoring column for SJHS.

The 7th grade team also came away with a win by the score of 39-19. Luke Moore (12 points) and Isiah Laux (11 points) both notched double figures on the night, with additional help coming from Owen Looney (5 points), Lucas Dillon (4 points), Owen Rizzi (4 points), and Peyton Luketich (3 points).

The Terriers hosted a tough opponent in Edwardsville Liberty on Tuesday night. The 8th grade fought hard but fell by the score of 57-26. Coalson did his best to keep the team in the game with 13 points on the night. Bodner (8 points), Bohlen (3 points), and Rather (2 points) also scored for the Terriers.

The 7th grade team played excellent defense and won by the score of 34-10. Looney (14 points) and Laux (10 points) led the way, with Moore (6 points), Dillon (2 points), and Lucas Coalson (2 points) also contributing to the cause.

Finally, Staunton ended the week with a trip to Girard to take on the North Mac Panthers. The 8th grade once again played stifling defense en route to a 36-4 victory. Bodner (14 points) and Coalson (12 points) posted double figures for Staunton, with Legendre (7 points), Overby (2 points), and Elliot Frank (1 point) also contributing to the win.

The 7th graders started slow but eventually turned it on for a 40-17 victory. Looney was on fire from the field, scoring a game-high 27 points in the win, including six 3-pointers. Moore (6 points), Laux (3 points), Chase Embry (2 points), and Ty Simpson (2 points) aided the attack
