David E Komnick, 77, of Gillespie, Ill., died at Heritage Health of Gillespie on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021. He was born Sept. 22, 1944, in Carlinville to Arthur Komnick and Marion (Eldred) Komnick. He married Linda Gay Fields on Aug. 15, 1965, in Gillespie. She preceded him in death on March 16, 2017.

He was a retired coal miner after having worked for Monterey Coal Mine. David was a member of the UMWA Local 1613. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and camping.

He is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Michael "Mick") Harrison of Gillespie; grandchild, Zachary Myers of Missouri; great-grandchildren, Zachary Myers, Jr., Zillon Myers; brothers, Mack (Rita) Komnick of Mesa, Ariz., Gerald (Rhonda) Komnick of Clinton; sister-in-law, Dorothy Komnick of Carlinville; and several nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Phil Komnick.

Private services will be held.
